Get to know us
Established in 2024.
Reset began with a small group of adventurers backpacking in the Floridian wilderness. They noticed the therapeutic benefits of outdoor adventures, both physical and psychological. They took their backgrounds of physical therapy, emergency medicine, ecology, and mental health to form an organization that believes in helping people feel better, the right way.
Our vision
At Reset, we believe the current healthcare system does not work to help us. Guided by authenticity, adventure, environmentalism, health, and understanding, we aim to truly help people.
Our mission
To strengthen our relationship with the self by discovering our relationship with nature.

Gabriel Alvarez
Dr. Danny Alva, DPT
As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Dr. Danny has developed a deep understanding of the human body—how it functions, how it heals, and how to overcome dysfunction. However, his experience in clinical practice revealed critical gaps in traditional healthcare. Too often was there a dismissal of psychological, social, cultural, and environmental factors that are integral to true wellness.
It had become obvious that our healthcare system prioritizes pharmaceuticals and surgical procedures over genuine healing and recovery. People are misled by medical doctors to believe that their experience is inevitable and irreparable parts of life. Through research and practice Dr. D has been able to develop a transformative model of personal growth and healing that builds on the recent development of movement system frameworks by integrating a cognitive systems approach with it.
When learning about a desire to integrate nature and holistic healing from his friends, he was inspired to join their mission. His role as the Director of Therapeutic Evaluation & Treatment ensures that Reset remains grounded in evidence-based practices while adapting them to the immersive wilderness experience. This includes staying up to date on the research of physical, psychological, and natural therapies; establishing clear criteria for referring clients to appropriate medical providers; and leading the development of educational programs for future Integrative Wilderness Therapists.
Sierra Sawtelle, EMT
Sierra has worked in outdoor recreation for over five years, and part of this time was spent completing her Bachelors degree in Sociology with a concentration in Environmental Education. She struggled to determine a career path for herself, but desired to find a way to blend her passion for the outdoors and helping others. In her senior year she learned of wilderness therapy, but was thoroughly disappointed by what she learned about many preexisting programs and their reputations. She knew that when done with genuine intention in a therapeutic way, wilderness therapy could heal people in a way traditional psychiatric care models were uninterested in doing.
She was driven to start a program with likeminded individuals who could see this truth. She continued to research and practice integrated therapeutic modalities and received a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician License in addition to being a Basic Life Support Instructor to be better prepared to help clients not only therapeutically, but also in the case of any medical emergencies that may arise while providing care to clients.
Sierra’s role as the Director of Emergency Management in Reset is to ensure the preparedness of therapists in providing proper care for clients in the situation of a medical emergency while practicing Integrative Wilderness Therapy. This director maintains their own knowledge and credentials in emergency medicine to regularly train therapists and equip them with the skills and materials needed to allow for a safe Integrative Wilderness Therapy experience.

René Aviles
Rene brings a unique blend of scientific understanding and compassionate guidance to his role as Director of Introspective Practice at Reset. In his clinical experience preparing for dental school, it became apparent how impactful stress management skills are for both patient and practitioner. He began to research meditation to understand how it could be incorporated into daily routines as a form of preventative medicine. This curious exploration of meditation quickly became a fundamental tool in Rene’s day to day life. After 10 years of practice, Rene has compiled what he calls the “Swiss army knife” of meditation. These techniques are designed to help you find peace along the broad spectrum of human emotions.
After witnessing the beauty of what these techniques allowed for his friends and family to cultivate over time, it became clear how beneficial these practices can be for the people of our wonderful world. As Rene’s educational career for dentistry continued, he maintained connections with friends of his who were equally as passionate about the benefits of meditation. After one too many hikes, his friends decided the best way to spread the word to the world was through Reset.
Gabriel Alvarez
Gabriel has dedicated his life to the study and preservation of the natural world. His journey began at the University of South Florida, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science. Since then, his career as a Park Ranger has allowed him to deepen his expertise and devotion to the preservation and interpretation of the Floridian wilderness. His dream? To create new sanctuaries where wildlife can thrive.
Gabriel believes that nature exists to be cherished, not feared. He is passionate about teaching others to see the beauty and interconnectedness of plants, animals, and the ecosystems around us. When his close friends and family shared the idea of Reset, he knew it was the perfect opportunity to merge his love for nature with a mission to help people heal and grow. Gabriel treats every client with the same care and respect he extends to his own loved ones.
As the Director of Environmental Interpretation, Gabriel plays a vital role in integrating environmentalism into Reset’s mission. His responsibilities include promoting environmental knowledge, awareness, and philosophy; guiding therapists to incorporate nature-based therapies and educational interventions tailored to each client; ensuring all practices adhere to strict environmental ethics and policies to protect the wilderness; and developing comprehensive environmental education standards for Integrative Wilderness Therapists
By combining environmental science with holistic wellness, Gabriel works to foster a deeper connection between people and nature while supporting conservation efforts to protect the wild places we all rely on.
